The Writing Process (Or Lack Thereof)

Someone asked me the other day if I blog about my writing process... No. I don't.

Other authors tend to do this, and more power to them! There is a reason, however, that I do not. Do you want to know the big secret as to why I don't talk to people about my writing process?

Because I don't have one!

Seriously, I am making this up as I go. There are no outlines, pages full of notes, character outlines, plotting maps, flow charts, or any of that jazz that many experts say we need to use to be authors.

Whew! Feels good to let that cat out of the bag! So many authors feel like there is some magical twelve (or some other magic made up number) step process to writing. For some people that works. For others like myself, we just go with the flow!

Write as it comes to you! Then re-read it a million times adding and taking things away until it becomes what you want it to be! A lot of people need a structure of some kind to make things come together and that's great, but other people just let it be the magic mess that it can be sometimes.

There is no right or wrong way to write! Just do you! Be yourself and let it flow onto the paper (or computer screen). That's what really makes a great book, isn't it? When the soul of the person behind the pen shines through?

No matter what your process is, as long as you put your best into it, it will eventually be a reflection of you (a beautiful reflection!)

So there you go! For everyone that wanted to know about my writing process or lack thereof, there you have it. I'm making this up as I go, and I hope you enjoy this wild ride as much as I do!
